Blighty Football Club has recognised the hard work of its junior sides after a strong 2020 Picola & District League season. The Most Valuable Player awards were presented to players who polled the most votes in the Under 17s (thirds) and Under 15s (fourths). Taking out the top award for the thirds side was bottom-age onballer Jack Charlton followed by fellow bottom-aged player Dean Macdonald. Other award winners for the thirds were as follows: Most Determined – Reilly Lynch; Most Improved – Sam Dudley; Most Consistent – Tom Cochrane; Leadership Award – Kane Morris and Jack Michael; Coach’s Award – Charlie Waters; Captain’s Award – Kobi Baxter; Players’ Player – Luke Learmonth. The MVP award for the fourths was taken out by captain Will Dudley, tied runners-up were Seth Morris and Dustin Lawson. The remaining fourths awards are as follows: Most Consistent – Max Caruso; Most Determined – Angus Bain; Most Improved – Cobi Johnson; Encouragement Award – Toby Grimwood; Best First Year Player – Jarrod Bashford; Coach’s Award – Harry McIlwain; Captain’s Award – Will Doolan; Players’ Player – Will Dudley. President Michael Norman said those who received awards were all deserved of the recognition but a strong season from all players meant they could have gone to anyone. ‘‘I want to say ‘well done’ to all our recipients,’’ he said. ‘‘I’m glad we got some footy in this season and we are keen to get back to normal next season. ‘‘All our players deserved an award; well done to Jack and Will for winning the top awards. ‘‘We are glad to have them representing our club,’’ Norman said.
