Woman’s routine manicure session leads to unexpected cancer diagnosis. The warning sign was strange nail marks

Ohio woman Michelle Tagliamonte, 58, discovered she had early-stage melanoma after noticing thin black lines on her thumbnail during a routine manicure. Initially dismissing them, she sought medical advice when the marks persisted. A biopsy confirmed stage zero melanoma, prompting a four-hour surgery to remove the affected tissue and perform a skin graft. Although she lost her thumbnail permanently, early detection prevented further complications.
